Priming and basecoating

As black as the very space itself

I just primed the Shilone black. For an ASF I thought it to be a wonderful place to start working on.

A red-brown basecoat

To keep the black primer from eating all the brightness from the actual paint coats, I airbrushed a gentle layer of red-brown (VMA 71271 German Red Brown). It was a thin coating as I already had a layer below it and I expected it to keep the blackness in control. This wasn't supposed to be preshading or anything like it, I didn't work actively on avoiding panel lines, for example.
